ROLES & RESPONSIBILITES OF COMMUNITY SAFETY SECTION

The Community Safety Section in PNG Fire Service is responsible for most of the organization’s roles in providing Fire and related Emergencies Services to the people of PNG.

The functions and roles carried out by the section pertain to the organization’s objective of a safer community in PNG.

The section brands its name through the concept of providing the services in consultation with stakeholders creating safer communities through the framework of risk identification and mitigation. It embraces the integrity of the organization in the roles carried out on daily basis from technical down to community services.

The section is headed by an officer in Superintendent rank and reports to the Chief Superintendent Community Safety, Training and Business Development. It is the section with key responsibilities of Fire Service in Building industry and good number of Fire Inspectors. Its daily functions vary from Building Inspection (SAO) and Approval (BAO)to Community Awareness and Education.
