FIRE SAFETY INSPECTION AND AUDIT

Fire Safety Inspection are done in two methods. Firstly, is the ‘building-in-use’ inspection. It is the practicable inspection and auditing Fire Safety Installation in a building/structure. It is to ensure all Fire Safety measures/standards/regulations are met for the safety of the building and its occupants or users. After inspection reports are produced and submitted to the building owner/user to take immediate action in rectifying any defects that compromises fire safety. The building owner is given a period of time less than a month to comply with the requirements and recommendation provided by PNGFS. A scheduled second inspection will be made to make sure all requirements and recommendations are fulfilled and in compliance with standards and regulations.

PNGFS is in the process of enacting its legal requirements that will demand for compliance of fire safety regulations to building owners and users. This should not encourage building owners to take advantage of and neglect fire safety measures recommended for the safety of the building and its occupants.

Secondly, is the inspection of a newly constructed/altered building or structure and it is to make sure all requirements made in the Building Screening Application process are complied with. After the inspection is completed and all requirements are met a practical completion letter is issued to Building Board for the issuing of Permissive Occupancy Certificate to the property owner/client.
