Fire Warden Training
Unit Code & Title: PUAWER005B – Operate as part of an Emergency Control Organization
Information about the Course:
This unit covers the competency for Fire Wardens to operate as part of an emergency control organization during a fire emergency at the workplace.
Target Audience:
Existing workers in any industry may benefit from this training as it is not industry specific.
Maximum Number of Participants: 15 participants per session
Prerequisites:
- First Aid Firefighting training (Use of fire extinguisher and hose reel)
- Established Fire Warden Team
- Established and Documented Emergency Responses Plan (ERP)
Award Issued:
Participants who successfully complete this short course will be awarded the Certificate of attainment.
Re-certification: Recommended every 2 years as per the AS 3745-2010
Course Duration:
- 4.5 hours (for newly established warden team)
- 2.5 hours (refresher training for existing established warden team)

- What is an Emergency?
- Different Types of Emergencies
- Actions on discovering a fire & being notified by a fire alarm
- Fire Evacuation Procedure
- Structure of Fire Warden Team
- Fire Warden Identification
- Categories of Fire Warden Duties
- Specific Roles and Responsibilities of Fire Warden Team
Assessment:
Assessment will be carried out throughout the duration of this course using written test & practical
demonstration
Instructor: This course will be delivered by experienced Fire Service Trainers
Training Location:
This course will be done on-site at your workplace
